The club officially named Derek Falvey as Senior Advisor of Baseball Operations, pairing the long-tenured former Minnesota Twins executive directly alongside President of Baseball Operations David Stearns.

Reconnecting Roots from Cleveland
This move reunites Falvey and Stearns, whose professional relationship dates back over a decade to their time in the Cleveland organization during the 2011–2012 seasons. While Stearns subsequently built his resume leading Milwaukee’s front office, Falvey spent nine seasons directing baseball operations in the Twin Cities.
Taking over Minnesota's baseball department in late 2016, Falvey engineered a quick turnaround:

Pitching Architecture: Known across the industry for his pitching laboratory background, Falvey orchestrated key acquisitions including trading batting champion Luis Arraez to secure right-hander Pablo López, and dealing veteran Nelson Cruz to acquire Joe Ryan.
Following ownership transitions in Minnesota, Falvey parted ways with the Twins earlier this year, making him one of the most experienced free-agent executives available across Major League Baseball.

Rather than filling a traditional General Manager vacancy, New York structured Falvey’s role as a direct sounding board to Stearns, offering veteran counsel across scouting, player development, and trade negotiations.
